Although over the years we’ve accumulated tons of knowledge about mobile apps, the mobile apps market sees a lot of flops. So, let’s go through some mobile UI/UX basics to make sure you’re ready for the launch.
1. Follow Apple iOS Human Interface Guidelines and Google Material Design for Android
There’s no doubt you should first check out those, if you’re targeting these markets. In case you opt for a cross-platform app, go with somewhere-in-between style. Mind that Apple sets a higher bar for UI/UX designers.
2. Decluttering
Regardless of the platform, this one will do you good. You don’t want to look like a state insurance platform, with a gazillion of tubs, tons of texts and long forms to fill.
3. Avoid too much text
This one is important. Not that users don’t like to read. They do, but unless you’re a news portal or a digital encyclopedia app, use the right dosage of a highly functional text.
4. Finger and hand-friendly design
As users generally scroll with their thumb, place the key CTAs within its reach. Make sure all the key elements are about the size of a finger cushion.
5. Color theory
Last but not least, key app’s colors grab people’s attention firsthand. Invest some time into color theory and apply the tenderness of beige hues or the energy of orange depending on your business needs
